Agents
M-Pesa agents are the entities that sell e-money and or cash to end users (customers). They facilitate the transactions of the customers by availing either cash or e-money to them. The agents are registered entities either as sole traders or companies. There are cases whereby we also engage the Spaza shops, looking at their turn over and the demand in the area that they are situated at. The agent gets commission for transactions between them and customers. The documents required to apply to be M-Pesa agent are stipulated below:
Sole Traders
Traders License
Proof of residence (Water bill, Electricity bill, Chief’s Letter)
Identity documents (Passport, ID)
Companies
Traders License
Tax Clearance
Certificate of Incorporation
Company Extract
Proof of residence (Water bill, Electricity bill, Chief’s Letter)
Identity documents of primary contact person
Identity documents of shareholders with 25% or more shares
Board’s resolution letter indicating the person who will be in charge of M-Pesa on a daily basis
Identity document of the person who has been nominated in the resolution letter if it’s not one of the directors and their proof of residence
Unregistered Entities (Spaza Shops/ Street Vendors)
