Vodacom Mpate Sheleng Quick Reference


  • Entry Requirements
    • The policy is currently open to Basotho citizens aged 18 to 60.
    • The policy is currently available to all customers except those on contract.
    • Both Policy Owner’s and Beneficiary’s Lesotho ID numbers are required to be able to register.
  • Payment
    • Premiums are collected from airtime account.
    • Premiums recur Weekly/Monthly.
    • Customer must load airtime equivalent to the premium before first purchase.
    • In a case where a customer purchased with insufficient funds, they should recharge within 48 hours.
  • Policy Activation
    • All eligible requests for new policy will be queued and processed in batch at 18:00 daily.
    • Requesting MSISDN (Phone Number) must have enough airtime balance to allow deduction.
    • All successful policies will receive a confirmation SMS.
  • Policy Maintenance
    • Recurring deductions will occur monthly/weekly based on selected option.
    • Policy owner must ensure there is always enough airtime balance to cover recurring deductions.
    • If there is not enough balance at the time of recurrence, a debt will be raised against the account.
    • Amount in debt will be deducted in full as soon as the account receives airtime.
    • The policy will lapse after 15 days without a successful deduction.
  • Beneficiary
    • A policy Owner must add one beneficiary.
    • A beneficiary cannot be a person who is paying the policy.
    • Change of beneficiary requires a consent accompanied by ID copy of Policy Owner.
  • Family Members
    • Cover for You and Family only accepts the direct family members.
    • Direct family members are Spouse and up to 5 legal children not above 21 years.
    • Legal children can be biological, adopted and stepchildren.
    • When a child’s age exceeds 21, their cover will expire & they are expected to open their own policy.
  • Waiting Period
    • Waiting period for natural death is 4 months.
    • Waiting period for suicide is 2 years.
    • No waiting period for accidental death (Death within 14 days after accident).
    • Waiting period applies to everyone covered.
  • Claims Process
    • All claims should be lodged at any Vodacom stores.
    • Claims can also be lodged through email. Call 114 to confirm email.
    • Valid claims with are expected to be processed within 48 hours – working days only.

    • Each successful claim has a M300 airtime benefit.
