The Vodacom VodaBucks Loyalty Program


  1. Definitions
    1. VodaBucks is Vodacom’s loyalty program where customers earn points for spending, recharging, using products and services, paying postpaid bills, and meeting other goals set by Vodacom, which can be redeemed for great rewards.
    2. "VodaBucks" or "VBs" means the points that customers shall earn.
    3. "Banking" means the process of actively storing reward points on the designated USSD code (*142#) for later use.
    4. Gamification is a feature of Vodabucks that allows customers to participate in the Daily Unlock or Super Unlock games for a chance to win prizes.
    5. "Redeem" means Using VodaBucks or points to play games or purchase bundles
    6. "Website" means the Vodacom Lesotho website, (www.vodacom.co.ls)
    7. "You" means the customer.
    8. "Conference and video calls" means a real-time face-to-face meeting to other networks between users in different locations.
    9. "International calls" means phone calls made from one country to another.
    10. "Roaming calls" means phone calls made or received in another country
    11. "Premium-rated calls" means phone calls to services that charge higher-than-normal rates
    12. "Value-added service (VAS) calls" means phone calls that provide additional services beyond basic voice calling and messaging.
    13. "Call forwarding" means redirect incoming calls from your phone number to another phone number or device.
    14. "Directory inquiry" means telephone service that provides information about the contact details of individuals, businesses, and organizations.
    15. "Message forwarding" means sending an incoming message (such as an SMS or email) received on one device to another device or recipient.
    16. "Machine-to-Machine (M2M) users" means direct exchange of data between devices without human intervention.
    17. "Enigma Virtual Box (EVB) package users" means individuals or organizations that use evaluation boards for testing and development purposes.
    18. "Enterprise Database (EDB) package users" means individuals or organizations that use Enterprise DB’s software packages, particularly for PostgreSQL databases.
    19. "Access Point Name (APN) SIM cards" means SIMs created to access specific data networks.
    20. "Community service SIMs or phone numbers" mean SIMs designated for use by community service organizations or for providing community-based services
    21. "Bulk Short Message Service (SMS) applications" means applications that allow SMSs to be sent to multiple recipients.
  2. General
    1. These Terms and Conditions apply to the VodaBucks Loyalty Program offered by Vodacom Lesotho, “Vodacom” to You. By opting in to the Program you agree to these terms and conditions
    2. Vodacom may amend these terms and conditions and will give reasonable prior notice to consumers for any significant changes.
  3. Eligibility
    1. The VodaBucks Loyalty Programme is open to all Vodacom customers, including those who activate a new SIM card.
    2. Exclusions
    3. Machine-to-Machine (M2M) users
    4. EVB and EDB package users
    5. APN SIM cards
    6. Community service SIMs or phone numbers
    7. Bulk SMS applications
  4. Participation
    1. Opt In
      To join the VodaBucks Loyalty Program, you must opt-in using the following channel:
      1. USSD dial *142# or; Dial *111# (select option 7 For Hybrid and Option 1 on the next page for Prepaid)
      2. If You haven’t opted in, you can still play the free Daily Unlock game, but you will not be able to redeem prizes, earn VodaBucks, or play Super Unlock games.
      3. By opting in, you permit Vodacom to track your activities to reward you with VodaBucks for completed goals and to offer personalized deals.
      4. Vodacom safeguards your personal information in line with the relevant Privacy Laws and regulations.
      5. If You previously opted into our old Loyalty Program, then you do not need to opt in again.
    2. Opt Out
      To opt out of VodaBucks at any time You must use the following channels:
      1. USSD dial *142# and select Option 9 or;
      2. Dial *111# (select option 7 For Hybrid and Option 1 on the next page for Prepaid)
      3. If you opt out of VodaBucks:
        1. You will no longer earn VodaBucks for completing goals.
        2. You will lose all your unbanked and banked VodaBucks
    3. Automatic Opt-Out
      1. If you do not engage with the platform for 12 months or more, you will automatically be opted out of VodaBucks.
      2. You can opt back in at any time through the following channel:
        1. USSD dial *142# or;
        2. Dial *111# (select option 7 For Hybrid and Option 1 on the next page for Prepaid)
    4. Marketing Messages
      1. By participating in the VodaBucks Loyalty Program, you agree to receive marketing and promotional communications through:
        1. SMS
        2. USSD (VodaBucks portal)
      2. SMS “LTY” ON 52070 to opt out of marketing messages only
  5. Privacy
    Vodacom will only use your Personal information for the purposes of the Program as stated in these terms and conditions and in accordance with Vodacom’s Privacy Policy available on the website(Privacy Policy | Vodacom Lesotho) . You hereby consent to Vodacom share your personal information with third parties identified by Vodacom from time to time solely for the purpose of execution of the Program.
  6. Gamification
    These games are based on chance and not skill.
    1. The free Daily Unlock game
      1. You get one free Daily Unlock on USSD every day to stand a chance of winning great prizes.
      2. To play, select “Play” from the Daily Unlock menu on USSD.
      3. If you win bundles, you’ll get an SMS notification when your prize has been allocated successfully.
      4. Prizes up for grabs with the free Daily Unlock game include but are not limited to:
        1. Free data, voice and SMS
        2. Airtime vouchers
        3. VodaBucks
        4. Entry into draws will include; Cash and mid-range Smartphones
    2. The paid Daily Unlock game
      1. You can buy a Daily Unlock for 1 VodaBuck or M1 airtime after using up your free Daily Unlock.
      2. Vodacom may change the number of VodaBucks or the airtime required to play at any time.
      3. You can buy up to 5 Daily Unlocks each day.
      4. Prizes up for grabs with the paid Daily Unlock game include but are not limited to:
        1. Free data, voice and SMS
        2. Airtime vouchers
        3. VodaBucks
        4. Entry into draws will include; Cash and mid-range Smartphones
    3. The Super Unlock game
      1. You can buy a Super Unlock for 5 VodaBucks or M4 airtime.
      2. You can buy up to 15 Super Unlocks using VodaBucks or Airtime per day.
      3. To play, select “Play” from the Super Unlock menu on USSD.
      4. Prizes up for grabs with the Super Unlock game include, but are not limited to
        1. Airtime vouchers
        2. VodaBucks
        3. Entry into draws will include Airtime, cash, shopping vouchers, high-end smartphones, and many more.
    4. Upsize your prize
      1. You have the option to “upsize” some of your prizes by adding a personalized product.
      2. The upsize offer is available to all Vodacom customers (Prepaid and Hybrid/Top Up) who have won a reward after playing the Daily or Super Unlock games.
      3. Upsize can be bought using airtime only.
      4. Your prize will be allocated to you, whether you choose to upsize it or not.
  7. Earning VodaBucks
    1. Customers will earn VodaBucks instantly as they recharge.
    2. For credit or debit card airtime or bundle purchases, the number receiving the bundle allocation will get the VodaBucks.
    3. Earned VodaBucks will expire before the cycle ends on Tuesday at midnight, if not banked.
    4. Global earn: You will be eligible to earn points, for performing any of the designated core monetary actions, i.e., airtime recharge
    5. The minimum recharge amount needed to accrue points for airtime recharges is M5 for 1VB.
    6. Recharges beyond M5 will round to the nearest tenth (10th). For example, M4 recharges won't accrue points, M5 or M6 will round up to 1VB, and M12 will round down.
    7. Customers participating in the program will receive personalized goals to complete in order to earn VodaBucks.
    8. The details of each goal, including the number of VodaBucks you can earn, will be clearly provided.
    9. Customers will receive an SMS making them aware of the assigned goals.
    10. There are two types of goals that customers can have:
      1. Auto goals are automatically assigned to customers, and you will have one week (from Wednesday to the following Tuesday) to complete them.
        1. To view your active Auto goals, dial *142#, select option 3 for Earn VBs, then choose option 1 for Active Goals.
      2. Manual goals are goals that you can choose to add yourself. You will also have seven days to complete them.
        1. To add Manual goals, dial *142#, select option 3 for Earn VBs, then choose option 2 for Add Goals.
    11. You can add one additional personalized goal at a time. You will need to either complete the current goal or wait for it to expire before adding another personalized goal.
    12. Once you complete a personalized goal and earn VodaBucks, a new goal will unlock, allowing you to earn even more VodaBucks.
    13. VodaBucks will be credited to the MSISDN number that you used to complete the goal.
  • Banking VodaBucks
    1. The VodaBucks Loyalty Program cycle runs from Wednesday to Tuesday.
    2. You must bank your VodaBucks before Tuesday at midnight to prevent expiry.
    3. Only banked VodaBucks can be used.
    4. VodaBucks can be banked as often as possible during the week, as long it falls before the weekly cut-off.
    5. There is no partial banking of VodaBucks points; when banking, all unbanked points will be banked in full.
    6. You’ll get reminders to bank unbanked VodaBucks before they expire via:
      1. SMS
    7. Once banked, VodaBucks are valid for 12 months, after which they will expire.
    8. You’ll be notified before your banked VodaBucks expire, to remind you to use them, via:
      1. SMS
    9. To check your VodaBucks balance on USSD, dial *142#, then select option 5: Balances, OR
    10. Dial *111#, then select option 7 for Hybrid, and to the next page, then option 1 for Prepaid.
  • VodaBucks Redemption
    1. You can use your VodaBucks to buy Voice, Data, and SMS bundles on the USSD menu, Dial *142# then select option 3: Redeem, OR,
    2. Dial *111# (select option 7 For Hybrid and Option 1 on the next page for Prepaid)
    3. Play the daily and super unlock games
  • Rewards and prizes
    1. All images of products and rewards on posters, billboards, and other media are for illustration purposes only. The actual reward details are specified in the product description. Any additional items or features shown in the images are not included.
    2. Prizes won by customers through the draws may take between 30 to 60 days to be delivered.
    3. Prize winners will be informed via phone call, along with details about when to claim their prize
    4. You can win prizes including:
      1. Free data, voice and SMS
      2. Content-specific bundles and Vodacom tickets
      3. VodaBucks
      4. Entries into grand prize draws for cash, VodaBucks, data, airtime, and electronic devices (e.g., phones and TVs).
      5. Airtime vouchers
    5. Airtime vouchers will be sent via SMS, and you will need to use the reward code within a specified time.
    6. Airtime vouchers are not transferable, meaning only the recipient of the reward message can use the voucher code.
    7. Airtime vouchers will be sent directly to the participating cell phone number via SMS and won’t be delivered to a physical address.
    8. Non-monetary vouchers cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash. They will expire after a certain period, which will be communicated via SMS.
    9. If customers do not redeem their won vouchers within one month after they were informed to collect it, Vodacom may reassign the vouchers to others.
    10. If you don’t receive an airtime voucher after winning, contact Customer Call centre at 114. Once the issue is resolved, you will receive your correct voucher within 7 working days.
    11. Voice, data, and SMS bundle rewards:
      1. Prepaid and Hybrid customers will receive voice, SMS, and data bundle rewards immediately.
      2. Voice bundles rewarded will charge per minute
      3. Bundles are available to use immediately and will expire based on their validity period. Unused bundles will expire with no carryover or refund.
      4. Reward bundles cannot be transferred to other customers.
      5. Any usage outside the bundle’s specified period or once the bundle is used up, will be billed at your applicable price plan rates.
      6. Vodacom voice minute bundles specify usage, such as calls within Vodacom.
      7. Excluded call types include:
        1. Conference and video calls
        2. International calls and roaming calls
        3. Premium-rated calls
        4. Value-added service (VAS) calls
        5. Call forwarding
        6. Directory inquiry
        7. Message forwarding
      8. SMS bundles are valid only for sending messages within the country and do not include international or premium numbers. Each message can contain up to 160 characters, including spaces.
      9. Any data session that starts within the specified period will use your data reward bundle until it is depleted. Once the bundle is exhausted, any remaining data usage will be charged from an active data bundle or at the out-of-bundle rate.
      10. Prepaid and Hybrid customers who switch to Postpaid plans (or vice versa) will lose any allocated voice minutes, data, or SMS bundles once the conversion is complete.
  • Consumer Protection or Dispute Resolution
    1. In any case of disagreement or disputes relating to Vodacom’s decision relating to any Offer(s), participants shall lodge their complaints with Vodacom for an amicable resolution of the same which shall be settled through private good faith negotiations.
    2. Please note that Our Complaints Handling Procedure, which is outlined in the Vodacom Consumer Protection Code, shall apply to any complaints arising from the Program.

    4. These Terms and Conditions will be construed, interpreted, and enforced in accordance with the laws of Lesotho.
