General Prepaid Terms and Conditions


These Terms and Conditions apply to all Prepaid tariff Plans offered by Vodacom (“Services”) under the following categories: Prepaid Voice, SMS, and Data.

Prepaid Services shall be available to you upon activation and registration of your SIM Card in line with the SIM card registration Regulations (2021) as amended. By using our Prepaid services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms and conditions set out here.

  1. Definitions
    1. “All-Networks or All-Net” means the Voice and SMS resources that can be used to make calls and send SMSs for all networks in Lesotho.
    2. “Country” means the Kingdom of Lesotho.
    3. “Contact Centre” means our Customer Care Center whose contact details are listed on our website.
    4. “Network” means our mobile and/or other telecommunications network and systems used to provide the Service.
    5. “Off-Net Calls” means calls made from a Vodacom mobile number to a mobile number of another licensed telecommunications operator in Lesotho.
    6. “On-Net Calls” means calls made from a Vodacom mobile number to another Vodacom mobile number.
    7. “Prepaid” means a service that requires you to have positive credit to access and/or use our products and services.
    8. “Per Second” means the call is charged for each second consumed from the start of the call. E.g., if a call lasts for 20 seconds, only 20 seconds will be deducted from the airtime credit and not the full minute.
    9. “Per minute” means the call is charged for the complete minute even if the call did not last for a minute. E.g., if your call takes 20 seconds you will be charged for the full minute.
    10. “Top Up” means a prepaid contract service that allows you to buy additional services once the monthly allocation is depleted.
    11. “Peak period” means between 7 am and 5 pm on weekdays, excluding weekends and public holidays.
    12. “Off-peak means between 5 pm and 7 am on weekdays, this is excluding weekends, and public holidays.
    13. “Vodacom SIM Card” means the Vodacom Subscriber Identity Module Card/Service which we connect to the Vodacom Network.
    14. “Voucher” means our airtime voucher, whether electronic or otherwise, that you can purchase from us or our authorized agents or dealers, which can be used to credit your Account.
    15. “Website” means our website (www.vodacom.co.ls)
    16. “We” or “us” means Vodacom Lesotho and “our” has a corresponding meaning.
    17. “You” means the customer.
  2. Eligibility
    The Services are available to all Vodacom Prepaid and Top-up customers.

  3. Business Rules Applicable to the Services
    1. There are 3 Prepaid tariff plans i.e., Prepaid Anytime, Prepaid Per Second, and Prepaid Bua which apply as follows:
      1. Prepaid Anytime
        1. It is suitable for users who make calls during both periods.
        2. Offers flat rates at both peak and off-peak periods.
        3. Prepaid Anytime charges per second irrespective of the duration of the call.
        4. Prepaid Anytime subscribers have access to all Prepaid Voice, Data, and SMS bundles.

      2. Prepaid Per Second
        1. It is suitable for users who mostly make off-peak calls.
        2. Offers lower rates for off-peak periods and higher rates for peak periods.
        3. Customers are charged per second irrespective of the duration of the call.
        4. Prepaid Per Second subscribers have access to all Prepaid Voice, Data, and SMS bundles.

      3. Prepaid Bua
        1. Offers flat peak and off-peak rates.
        2. Prepaid Bua is charged at per-minute billing rates regardless of the duration of the call.
        3. Prepaid Bua subscribers have access only to Prepaid Data, SMS, and Roaming bundles.
        4. Prepaid Bua subscribers cannot purchase local and international calling bundles.

    2. The use of our data services may be controlled from time to time by limiting the volume, speed or duration of downloads to facilitate fair use of the Products and Services by all customers. This is done to stabilize the network and ensure all other customers within the area receive service at an acceptable speed.

  4. International Calling
    1. Prepaid customers have access to the international calling service. The Service enables you, as a Prepaid customer to call and send SMSs to mobile users in different parts of the world.
    2. Different rates (voice and SMS) will apply to international destinations. You will therefore be charged the applicable rates for the country you are calling as per the applicable tariffs.
    3. Free minutes, Bonus Airtime, and Bonus Resources cannot be used for making international calls unless otherwise stated.

  5. Applicable tariffs
    1. Our services and applicable tariffs/charges are approved by the Lesotho Communications Authority.
    2. They are also available on our website (www.vodacom.co.ls).
    3. Our Prepaid pricing is based on Maloti and is inclusive of VAT.

  6. Prepaid Account Recharge and Top Up
    1. To access and use our services, you must have a positive airtime credit on your Prepaid account.
    2. You can recharge your account using the following mechanisms:
      1. Voucher either physical or electronic measures
      2. Airtime transfer
      3. Airtime advance

  7. Bonuses and Freebies
    We may offer bonuses or freebies on your active SIM during its lifecycle. Such bonuses and freebies will indicate the value (minutes/data) allocation and validity of the same which shall be communicated at the time of allocation into your account. We may also offer bonuses and freebies as part of promotions, Challenges, Campaigns, and Competitions that we offer to our customers.

  8. Lost, stolen, and damaged SIM cards.
    1. If your SIM card is lost, damaged, or stolen, you must immediately visit our retail stores. We will then:
      1. At your request, offer a SIM card swap service to you, provided the number has not been recycled.
      2. The SIM Swap service is available at the Vodacom retail stores countrywide at a minimal fee which we will communicate to you upon a request of the service.

  9. Free Change and Migration
    1. You may change between the different Prepaid Plans at any time for free.
    2. Migration between Prepaid Per Second and Prepaid Anytime services will not result in forfeiture of existing benefits/resources.
    3. Migration between the other Prepaid Services (Anytime and Per Second) to Prepaid Bua will lead to forfeiture of benefits /resources.
    4. Migration from a Prepaid Service to a Postpaid Service will result in forfeiture of existing benefits/resources.
    5. The first two changes are free and the next 3 are charged 5Maloti per change.
    6. Only five changes are allowed in a month.

  10. How Vodacom Protects Your Rights
    Please note that we are committed to protecting the rights of our valued customers. We have therefore put together a Vodacom Lesotho Consumer code to demonstrate how we protect your rights as a consumer of our products and services. The Code is available on our website (www.vodacom.co.ls)

  11. Obligations
    1. You must read and fully understand all the terms and conditions of products and services provided by Vodacom. If any term is unclear, you must request clarification of the same, and our Contact Centre shall provide such assistance.
    2. You must use the services offered to you according to the applicable Terms and Conditions. Do not misuse our services in any manner whatsoever.
    3. You must respect the privacy of other users of communication services.
    4. By buying and using our services, you assure us that you are buying them for your personal use. If you decide to transfer the products or services to another person, you warrant that you are responsible for making sure that they use the products and services in line with these Terms and Conditions and applicable law.
    5. You undertake that will not use the products and services, including mobile, and internet packs, for any purpose that causes a nuisance or is abusive, offensive, illegal, fraudulent, or for any activities that are criminal under the laws of the Kingdom of Lesotho.
    6. You will not re-sell the services without our permission in writing; and
    7. Should your personal information change, please register the change with us within fifteen (15) of occurrence of such change by visiting one of our stores.

  12. Privacy
    1. Vodacom shall protect and keep your personal information and communication private, and not disclose it to unauthorized persons.
    2. We protect your privacy through appropriate controls and security measures.
    3. Vodacom shall process your information by applicable law and license.
    4. Our Privacy Statement which outlines how Vodacom processes your personal information is available on our website at (www.vodacom.co.ls)

  13. Warranties and limitation of Liability
    1. Vodacom will make reasonable efforts to always make available Services to you. However, please be aware that the Services may not always be available due to events beyond our control, such as acts of God, an act of government or regulatory authority, war, riot or civil commotion, interruptions for maintenance, or electricity outages which may sometimes affect the quality and availability of our Services. In such cases, Vodacom will not be responsible for any harm or damage to you.
    2. We will not be liable for any loss or damage (including indirect loss) relating to the products and services, except for any liability we accept by law.

  14. Termination of the services
    1. Vodacom has a right to cancel, terminate, or suspend your Services if:
      1. You break any of the Terms and Conditions of this agreement.
      2. Our unified telecommunications license ends.
    2. When Vodacom terminates your services, we will tell you by SMS.
    3. You can terminate services by calling our Contact Center from your Vodacom mobile or by visiting one of our retail stores. We will not refund any remaining balance on your Prepaid Plan.

  15. General
    1. When you put the SIM card into a mobile phone, or use any products and services, you will be considered to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
    2. We can amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Where such change/or amendment is material, Vodacom will provide the customers with reasonable notice before implementing such change.
    3. We will inform you about any changes within a reasonable time, by publishing the changes on our website (www.vodacom.co.ls) or in any other relevant way available to us, including by SMS and voicemail.
    4. We can change our pricing and/or tariffs from time to time. We will publish the changes on our website (www.vodacom.co.ls) and tell you about the changes in any other way available to allow you to terminate the services.
    5. Purchasing and/or using Prepaid services after a notice of an amendment or modification shall be deemed acceptance of the changes.
    6. These Terms and Conditions apply to our General Prepaid services. Where a product or service that you use has specific Terms and Conditions published and/or business Rules on our website, those specific Terms and Conditions will form part of this Agreement. If there is any difference between these Terms and Conditions and any other terms and conditions, then These terms and conditions will apply.
    7. If any term or condition in this agreement is not valid or cannot be enforced for any reason, this will not affect the remaining Terms and Conditions, which will continue to apply.
